What Type of Light to Get

If everything could be perfect when growing marijuana plants then you would use metal halide and high pressure sodium grow lamps in both the vegetative and flowering states but not everything is that easy. If you have a garden with under fifteen marijuana plants then you could likely be able to use a 250w metal halide grow lamp and 250w high pressure sodium grow lamp. If the amount of marijuana plants comes near twenty weed plants though you may need to use a 250w metal halide grow lamp and 400w high pressure sodium grow lamp.

Cost

If you are running on a budget then you probably can’t run this type of setup. The price that it would cost for you to get two different lighting fixtures would be a lot more than it would for just one. If you have two lights set up then it could cause more heat to be produced than one light would and it can also take up even more space in the growing room as well.

Ideally you would at least be running one of these lights at a time. You would need to buy both because you would need one of them for the vegetative stage but once you get to the flowering stage you would need the other one. Marijuana plants rely on different light energy (based on the light spectrum) in different growth stages. There are alternative lights that you could use as well but most basic and even advanced growers will stick with these high intensity discharge lamps.
