This will allow you to make sure that the bottom of the roots can grow in the channel also has a surface higher above which is submerged in water but still can absorb air. The correct channel slope, flow rate, and channel length are what essentially make up a correctly created nutrient film technique hydroponic system for your marijuana plants.
