Symphilids

These are tiny insects which are only about a millimeter or two in length. They appear to look almost the same as centipedes but have a creamy white color to them. Centipedes will not harm your marijuana plants but symphilids can cause your dope plants to be severely damaged and possible die. Symphilids are very dangerous around your weed plants and should be destroyed immediately.

Dangers

Symphilids will eat at the roots of the dope plants. If the roots are rather small they can completely demolish them. You can usually notice patchy areas where symphilids have feasted on. The marijuana plants will begin to display necrosis and the leaves might start dying. It will not take long for the damage to spread across the plant and possibly throughout your whole crop.

Usually symphilids will be discovered in mixtures which haven’t been sterilized and contain a fair amount of compost or manure. Most sterilized potting mixtures will not have any symphilids affecting the plants in them at all. If you find that there is an infestation of symphilids in your garden though you will have to terminate them immediately.

Identifying Symphilids

Just the physical appearance alone may not be enough to correctly identify symphilids. There are some other pests which look similar to symphilids but are not as harmful. If you think that your cannabis plants might be getting tortured by symphilids you just have to observe when you water your dope plants.

When you water them the symphilids (if existing in the plant) will show at the surface and will easily be noticed because they’ll be climbing up to the surface of the soil.

This is a very serious pest to have to deal with. If you discover your marijuana plants are suffering from symphilids you will need to treat them with the right pesticide or else they can face serious health issues.
