Separate Growing Areas
Instead of just growing marijuana plants in a single grow room using metal halide and high pressure sodium lights for the full growth you can operate with two rooms. This means that you could have a room for marijuana plants in the vegetative state and a room for the marijuana plants in the flowering state. Some people may operate more rooms as well for clones and possibly male dope plants as well.
Rooms
The vegetative grow room could also be the clone room in most cases because the marijuana seeds are placed in that room anyways. Some advanced growers with large crops will probably operate multiple grow houses. The light in the vegetative room would consist of two basic 24” or 48” fluorescent bulbs or more if you have a bigger crop. The lights would be left on for a minimum of 20 hours every day. You should use bulbs that are around 30-60w but 40w would be preferred. Make sure the lights you get are cool white fluorescent tube lights.
After your marijuana plants reach a certain size they can be transferred over to the flowering room. This is not necessary if you are only growing one crop at a time and are not going to clone your plants but anyone growing a fair amount of dope plants will want to do this.
The flowering room would be prepared with high pressure sodium and/or metal halide lighting and would be on/off for 12 hours every day. When the marijuana plants are going through the flowering stage there is still time for the marijuana seeds and clones in the other room to prepare before moving rooms. Once you flower your ganja plants and harvest them then the dope plants located in the vegetative room should be ready for flowering. You can continuously run both rooms and never have one empty if you prepare it right.
With this set up the electricity bill will be a bit cheaper singe your metal halide and/or high pressure sodium lights are only on for half the day. A two room setup is a perfection option when growing marijuana plants.
