Replacing Bulbs
Depending on the type of grow lights you are using the life span it has will vary. It’s important to replace the lights you use on your marijuana plants at the right time so it doesn’t affect the growth of your dope plants negatively. If you are using high intensity discharge lamps then the bulbs could last for quite a while if they aren’t being over used.
Generally you should replace your high intensity discharge bulb within a year to a year and a half. The exact time that the bulb will last mostly varies depending on how long the lights are on every day.
Lumen Output
Even though a high intensity discharge bulb can likely supply light to your cannabis plants even after being used for a year and a half the lumen output can drop around thirty percent easily. The grow light will still be using the exact same share of electricity as before but your weed plants won’t be getting as much energy from the light.
When you do dispose one of these bulbs you will have to be careful. There are dangerous materials in them so you can’t just throw the bulbs in the garbage. Many cities will have a disposal setup which will allow you to dispose of the high intensity discharge lights safely but sometimes there is a fee attached to doing so.
When you do replace the grow bulb for your weed plants to use you have to make sure it’s one that will fit the ballast. It’s also suggested to replace the bulbs at least once a year if you have them on almost every day.
