EC, TDS, PPM, and CF – Advantages

Many first time marijuana growers will not bother with any of these tools but many experienced growers take great consideration into the electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, and various meters. Once you have experienced a couple of marijuana crops you’ll probably start aiming for the perfect crop so the growing environment has to be just right.

To get the strongest dope possible and the best yield you will have to make some adjustments. If you monitor the amount of dissolved solids that are located in the nutrient solution for your dope plants and keep the amount to the recommended amount then you can help your marijuana plants out a lot. This takes a lot of practice though and could take a long time to perfect.

EC Reading

Usually the right reading on a electrical conductivity meter will be different for every crop but having a reading around 0.8mS to 1.4mS while the marijuana plants are in the vegetative state is pretty reliable. While the marijuana plants are in the flowering state then the reading should sit anywhere between 1mS and 2mS though. The reading on the electrical conductivity meter can go up if you put extra nutrients into your hydroponic system. To lower the reading on the electrical conductivity meter you just have to add more water in the reservoir and this will flush out the concentration of nutrients.

TDS Reading

When marijuana plants are in the vegetative state a good reading on the TDS meter would be somewhere in between 500ppm and 1000ppm to be considered a good read. When the marijuana plants get into the flowering state it should be around 750ppm to 1500ppm though. To up the amount of PPM read on the TDS meter you will just have to add nutrients in and to lower the reading you just have to add water in. Keep in mind that the exact suggest reading will be different for everyone’s crop but this still gives you a rough idea on what your marijuana plants should be reading at.
