Pollinating your Female Marijuana Plants

When you are pollinating your marijuana plants you will have to use something to cover the branch. Ideally you could use a brown paper bag or a zip lock bag because both are sufficient for the job. When you are collecting the pollen on the male plant you will put the bag over a branch on the male plant and shake the pollen off for a few minutes. Once you remove the bag from the branch it will be dusty from the pollen that you collected.

Pollinating the Female Plant

Use the bag with the pollen you have from the male plant and cover one branch on the female plant and have it sealed so none of the pollen can leak out. Shake the bag of pollen and the marijuana plant’s stem together at once. After that you let the marijuana plant sit for a few hours and return to shake the plant again. Wait a couple hours and then you can take the bag off of the female marijuana plant’s branch. After this the branch on the female marijuana plants which went through this process will be pollinated and will show some hints of seed producing within two weeks. A single branch that has been pollinated could create hundreds of marijuana seeds so you probably won’t need to pollinate more than a single branch usually.

If you mix a different strain male plant with a different strain female plant you will breed your own marijuana strain. If you already know what type of marijuana plants you want to grow (for flavor, yield, etc) then this can really help you out with your further crops. If you’re looking to experiment with a new strain it could take you a couple attempts before you find a strong combination.
