Hydroponic Marijuana Plants – Planting the Seeds

Once the root sprouts a quarter an inch in length you will plant the marijuana seeds in the growing soil. After you put the seeds (or clones) into the soil you will want to leave them in complete darkness for about eight to ten hours. Once the time is up you can introduce light to them. The reason for this is that the marijuana seeds or clones will need time to heal from the shock they receive when they are originally transplanted into the hydroponic garden. This isn’t necessarily a major ordeal for marijuana seeds but if this step is ignored you could kill your clones very easily.

Lights

At first you can use either high pressure sodium or metal halide lights on your marijuana seeds or clones. A better choice would be to start with using fluorescent lights and have them on 18/6 which would be 18 hours on and 6 hours off every day. Once the marijuana plants are prepared for the high pressure sodium or metal halide grow lights then you can make the switch.

You should start with using fluorescent lights instead because you don’t want to give your marijuana plants more light than they need. Marijuana seeds have to grow like they would outside in the sun and naturally grow and you have to duplicate nature where they start to grow in the spring and the sun isn’t as strong in the spring.
