Hydroponic Garden – Media
Many people will refer to the media in hydroponic gardens as soil by habit but the correct term is actually media or medium. There are various types of hydroponic gardens that you could set up like the ebb and flow, drip, and deep water culture systems. Quite a few of the hydroponic systems that are regularly used will need an additional piece (the media) which has the job of being the place where the roots can create an anchor and form a strong root system. Without soil this is difficult but there are various solutions to create growing media which are reliable.
Media
The growing media doesn’t contain any nutrition at all (unlike soil) and is only there to help the rooting system stay in place. The nutrition will come from a nutrient solution which will be poured into the reservoir when the marijuana plants need to be fed.
You can get different types of growing mediums for your hydroponic garden and they will all work for supporting your weed plants but some kinds are better. One of the most popular growing mediums is called Rockwool but you can find different solutions as well. Rockwool appears in solid blocks which are comparable to fiberglass insulation that is used when some homes are built.
The growing media that you use isn’t a major deal because your marijuana plants will be satisfied with almost any choice you make. However there is one type of growing media which you should avoid if your hydroponic garden isn’t set up for it. Loose particles which are similar to soil are not a good choice for a growing media in most cases because it can leak to your reservoir (where your nutrients go) and lead to your pump being destroyed.
