Growing Room Measurements – Ceiling
One thing that most people neglect paying attention to is their ceiling. The growing room you are using may not be the best choice if it has a lower ceiling. Marijuana plants will grow quite a bit and marijuana plant grow lights take up room as well.
Measurements
The average ceiling sits eight feet high from the floor. A hydroponic system sitting on a platform will usually be about 1.5 to 2.5 feet from the floor. The marijuana plant will be around 1.5-3 feet when it is done growing. Usually if your ceiling is less than 8 feet then you will run into an issue if you are using a larger light. You should stick to a 400w light if you have a lower ceiling. If you have a ceiling that hits at least 10 feet then you would probably be safe with a 1000w light. Most people will use 400w or 600w lights for their marijuana plants and these lights should be fine in an average sized growing room. If you want to add extra light to grow more marijuana plants then you should get additional grow lights between 250w and 600w but not use a 1000w light unless your ceiling is really far from the floor.
If you are a very skilled marijuana plant grower then you will have a lot of experience with training the marijuana plants to grow horizontally. Usually amateur marijuana plant growers will end up with the top of the marijuana plant reaching their ceiling and it could cause the plant to end growth early or be damaged if not chopped properly. If you can train the marijuana plants to grow more horizontally then your yield could be longer and the room size won’t be a major issue. If you are growing for the first time then only use a 1000w light when the room has a ceiling over 10 feet from the floor.
