Hydroponic Marijuana Plant Lamps
The lamps that you use to grow marijuana plants with a hydroponic setup will be a bit different then they would if you are just growing the plants normally inside. A hydroponic system is very timely to create and it takes a lot of research to make sure that you get the right lights so the results are positive. Weed plants may not grow as well with certain lights that they normally are effective with if the weed plants are growing in a hydroponic setup.
Lights
You will either both or just one of the high intensity discharge lamps which consist of both metal halide lamps and high pressure sodium lamps for the flowering stage for the marijuana plants. When the marijuana plants are in the seedling and vegetative states you could effectively use fluorescent or LED lights and these can also be effective as a separate light while flowering. Currently fluorescent and LED lights are not strong enough to give a stronger yield than metal halide and high pressure sodium growing lamps would while in the flowering stage.
Many companies marketing both fluorescent and LED lights will make statements that their lamps are just as strong as metal halide and high pressure sodium lamps. Don’t fall for these lies because in comparison you are best to choose a metal halide or high pressure sodium lamp. A 400w metal halide or high pressure sodium lamp can be bought for around $300-400 but the same strength growing lamp can cost over $1, 000 for a LED light setup. The technologies for LED lights are advancing though and in the future you could see them becoming a lot more effective and possibly even the main light to use but at this current time they are not at that level yet.
