Preparing the Growing Media
Some growing mediums will need to be prepared before you can put them to use. Rockwool is one popular brand and there are a lot of other growing mediums which you will have to do this for as well. You have to soak the growing media with water and let it sit for the night before you put the marijuana plants in it. This could also be with water which contains a certain pH level to make sure that the Rockwool’s level is neutralized when you put the marijuana plants in it. It should come with instructions so it won’t be a major issue.
Instructions
If the Rockwool (or certain other growing mediums) does not come with any instructions then you should just follow these. Oak the Rockwool growing media with water and let it sit for the night in a clean container. The water that the Rockwool will be soaked in should have the pH level at 5.5. The following day you can pour the water out and then fill up the container with hot water that has the pH level set at 6.0. This will make sure that anything which could damage your marijuana plants gets destroyed.
Once the Rockwool sits for at least 10 minutes in the hot water you can pour the water out of the container and then hold on until the Rockwool gets back to a cool temperature – preferably room temperature. After the Rockwool cools down you can use it. You don’t necessarily have to use hot water on the Rockwool after it sits overnight but if you want to make sure that everything is clean as possible then it definitely won’t hurt.
