Growing Media – Diahydro

When you are growing your marijuana plants in a hydroponic garden you are going to need to purchase some growing media. There are various types which you could choose from but some are better than others. One of the more popular choices is Rockwool but there are still other good options. One type of growing media that people use when growing marijuana plants in a hydroponic garden is diahydro.

Diahydro

Diahydro is a kind of sedimentary rock which contains fossilized shells of alga. Since diatoms are impregnated with Silica there is a very high amount of it in diahydro. There is around 87-94% Silica and is one of the contents that are needed for your marijuana plants to grow and get stronger cell walls.

Usually the choice of growing media will depend on the operation you are going to be running with your marijuana plants. Different situations will call for a different medium which would be preferred. If you are a beginner at growing weed plants then you may want to find out which one would be the best for you to use. Most beginners will choose Rockwool though because it’s very popular and well known for being efficient. However people that have a lot of experience growing cannabis plants will prefer to stay away from diahydro because most people find transplanting more difficult when using diahydro as a growing media.
