Leaves Curling Down (Potassium Deficiency)
Potassium plays a role in keeping the water with your dope plants in use and effectively absorbed. The potassium assists in getting certain parts of the weed plants to open up to absorb and use the water. If a marijuana plant does not receive enough potassium it can lead to the yield being substantially low and the potency of the weed being weaker than it could be with a sufficient amount of potassium.
Problems
When there is a deficiency of potassium the aged marijuana leaves will start to show necrotic lesions which is essentially dead tissue. This will begin displayed on the margin and the tip of the marijuana leaves. Sometimes the stems of the dope plants can get weaker and will be easier to break when the plant lacks potassium. There is also a chance that your weed plants will stretch out from a lack of potassium.
There are a lot of negative effects from not giving your marijuana plants enough potassium so it’s important to keep a fair share of all nutrients. Usually a potassium deficiency is caused from giving the dope plants too much sodium because it will lock out the potassium. If the potassium deficiency is caused from too much sodium then you will have to flush the growing media. There are still other things that can cause potassium getting locked up like the weather or getting too much ammonium nitrogen.
