Shelf gardening with fluorescents can be the trends of the future, as the equipment are so low-cost, and simple to obtain. Fluorescent lamps are big for shelf gardening. In this scheme, a lot of shelves can be located, one on top of the other, and fluorescent lamps are used on every shelf. Some shelves have 24 hour lighting, a few have 12 hour lighting (for flowering). Two areas are top, perhaps with one other dedicated to clone and germination of seed.
Shelf gardening assumes your going to stay every plants 3 or shorter at maturity, so all shelves are 3-4 feet apart. Less light is essential while you have plants that are this short and compulsory to grown-up early on.
One drawback to a shelf garden similar to this is that it is very time consuming to correct the lamp height each day, and it is harder to get a vacation for even a week with no tending of the garden. This applies generally to the vegetative stage, while plants are increasing as much as an inch per day. Lamps on the flowering shelves are not adjusted almost as often.
In general, the lamps should be reserved within 2 inches of the ends of the plants, with the plants agreed such that they acquire increasingly taller as the end of the lamps go up, so that all plants are within this 2" range. This is a perfect however, and if you do go on break, correct the lamps so that you’re definite the plants will not be capable to develop up to the lamps within that length of time. If sufficient flourecents are used to totally saturate the shelf with light, the spacing issue will not create spindly plants. They will mearly increase a small slower if the lamps are not very lock to them.
