Growing Media – Brick Shards

Another alternative which can be used as a growing media in a hydroponic system would be brick shards. Not many people that grow marijuana plants use brick shards as a growing media though. brick shards are comparable to gravel and hold a lot of the same (and similar) characteristics but gravel is still a better growing media.

While gravel is already heavy there are even further issues with brick shards. One of the main issues would be the fact that the brick shards can cause the pH level to be modified. If you are going to use brick shards as a growing media then you have to be careful that the pH level doesn’t severely drop or rise because it could hurt your dope plants. You will also have to clean the brick shards before you use them again.

Your best bet is to stay with something that people who grow marijuana plants have been using for years. There are many other options that are a lot better than brick shards. Most good growing mediums will be low maintenance and light weighted while brick shards are the exact opposite. To be sure that your marijuana plants are being treated the right way you should not be cheap when you are buying the growing media. A good growing media is not too expensive so don’t go with something that you would basically find in your garbage because it’s almost free. Your dope plants will only be as good as you treat them.
