Affecting Gender of Seeds

If you are not purchasing feminized marijuana seeds the chance of getting a female plant would be 50% most likely. The chance of getting female cannabis plants can vary depending on the strain itself and how well you take care of it. a lot of beginner growers will end up with many males and get frustrated but usually experienced growers can minimize the male population in their crop.

Environment

The grow room can play a major role in what the gender becomes. A high humidity level and low temperature are two things which can assist in growing female dope plants. If there is a lot of potassium in the nutrient solution compared to other nutrients it could force more male plants to grow. A higher amount of nitrogen in the nutrient solution could force more female plants to grow.

Light

The light spectrum can also play a role on the gender the marijuana plants become. If the blue side of the light spectrum is covered more than normal it will likely get you more female plants.

If the plants are getting less light then usual it could also assist in growing a majority of female marijuana plants. This would only be in the early seedling/vegetative phase though. When the dope plants are getting older its preferred to give more light until the flowering stage begins.

While you are waiting for your weed plants to show gender it might be helpful to only give them 16 hours of light every day. Interrupting their sleeping for an hour during the dark cycle can also help show more female plants.

There are various other methods to make the chance of turning more females higher. If you want to guarantee all female marijuana plants from your seeds then you can expose the sprouted seeds to carbon monoxide for a couple hours. This won’t damage your marijuana plants but it is very dangerous and could hurt your health or kill you. Only use the carbon monoxide method on your dope plants if you have experience around it and know proper procedure in the environment.
